In the year I resolve to:

Loose all my money gambling.

I am finally, finally making progress on a sewing project! Last night, I transferred the embroidery pattern that I designed (yes, yes, four times—shaddup, Corynne!) onto the black linen and got started on the actual embroidering.

I also cut out and appliqued the celtic cross onto the tunic. I used this "fusible webbing" that basically let me iron the cross on, it was pretty nifty. (Stop laughing at me, this is all new, okay?) Now what I want to do is finish the edges, and I was thinking of doing couching, like in the class that [livejournal.com profile] genkadin taught at Southern Collegium. That's where my question comes in.

The celtic cross is black linen, on a white linen tunic. I was thinking of couching the edges in white, so that I can use that to define the cross versus the circle, if that makes sense. Does that seem like a good idea, or will couching black look better? Most importantly, what kind of yarn or cord should I use for the couching?
Does anyone have a lightbox that I could borrow ... tonight?
Yeah, this one was really a surprise:

The Movie Of Your Life Is A Black Comedy

In your life, things are so twisted that you just have to laugh.
You may end up insane, but you'll have fun on the way to the asylum.

Your best movie matches: Being John Malkovich, The Royal Tenenbaums, American Psycho
Finished entering Sigils and Cyphers from Ed & Asa's stepping down.

Received award charters from the Barony of Ered Sul and got them formatted and online; assigning them their precedence / sort order now.

Godfrey is just trucking along on the code and streamlining/condensing things. He is the rockingest rocker who ever did rock; in fact, he is a ROCKSTAR, baby. Or maybe I should call him a Codestar.

[Don't mind me, I could be loopy from squinting at the screen. I really, really need an eye exam soon. C'mon new job! Bertana needs some spectacles, baby!]

I have added most of the awards from Eduard & Asa's stepping down court; all I have left to add from that report are the Sigils and Cyphers, which I should be able to get to later tonight.
The Line of the Kingdom of Atenveldt is part of the SCA 'geneology' pages hosted by the Kingdom of Eoldomere, and is fueling my major project for today—completing the list of reigns and adding dates and locations for each reign's Crown Tourney, Coronation and Stepping Down.

Kill. Me. Now.
In Flanders Field
By Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

It is almost time for me to leave the lab for the day. The time goes by so very, very slowly here.
I guess the idea is that I post'em, and you try to figure out what songs they are, by whom:

Suicide mistaken for Halloween decoration.

What a horrible, sad thing.
Could you imagine hearing/reading about that on the news, and realizing that you were one of the people who drove by, thinking that a neighbor had gone all-out on the decorating? I would have nightmares for weeks.
