Upcoming Demo
Jul. 13th, 2005 12:10 pmSo I have something fun and really super-cool to do on my birthday, and I wanted to invite everyone to come join me.
Come to ASU on the evening of August 18 (yes, that's the actual day of my birthday) and help out the College of Brymstonne with our demo! This is part of the big freshman orientation week before classes start, and there are always massive amounts of people coming through to check stuff out. It's in the evening; I think it starts at 5pm and goes until 8pm. We get a huge amount of spacelast year, they had half of one of the gymnasiums at the Student Rec Centerso we can have rapier, armored combat, danceall sorts of stuff. In the past, they set up the baby trebuchet and showed that off.
We are thinking of setting up a TV with DVD player, to play the Estrella DVD so people can see what a large-scale SCA battle looks like.
If you can't make it, I do have one specific request: can anyone lend us dress dummies? We'd like to set up several dress dummies to display garb. We've got at least one or two later-period pieces to display, and I'll probably display a set of Anglo-Saxon garb (whichever set I'm not wearing, heh) and maybe see if I can toss some embroidery onto my Viking and display that.
I'm going to set up my shoe-making tools and warp a loom for tablet-weaving, and bring out all TWO of my lucets and some cord. Maybe do a fingerloop-braid demonstration, I don't know.
