So far, all I can find is the version with French subtitling added in, but ... here is the trailer for NARNIA.

It looks so, so pretty.

I don't know if anyone else was 'raised' on these books, but I can't tell you how they fired my imagination as a kid. Even as an adult, every now and then when I open a closet or armoire, there's the little kid in the back of my head hoping that maybe *this* one is the door to an entirely new world.

Oh, I hear ya there. I still own the whole set and read them now and then (even as an adult). I got sooo excited when I found out they were doing the movie for LWW. I didn't like the TV version that was done years ago...it was kinda lame (and I thought this even as a kid).

I never even saw the TV version ... just couldn't do it.

This, however, I will go see.

Don't...it's not worth the time or effort. We saw it in school (at some point, back in the day). The pure torture has haunted me all my life... *sniff*

Not a problem... as long as you are good with sitting outside the theater with me for hours on end. We can take turns getting food and taking restroom breaks! :P

I'll bring the bean-bag chairs. ;-D

And oooh! I can bring A&S stuff to work on!!

By the way...speaking of Star Wars earlier...we can do the same for that line. I'll be out of school by then *I think*...I don't remember what day it comes out. I'm just not as enthused about it as Episodes IV, V, and VI. Episode I and II just sucked...I'm just hoping that III at least will be worth the ticket fee.

I enjoyed them until I got to the end and realized it was the jesus story told through a kids book. I was quite disenchanted. They were good, I'll probably have them in the house for the kids but I really didn't like having the story rammed down my throat with sugar.

Yeah, I can totally understand that. I think I just put my blinders on firmly and now look at them through the screen of nostalgia.

Ok.. I went to Catholic grade school and first read these books then. Keep in mind that this entails DAILY religion classes. I never once made the connection between the Chronicals of Narnia and the Jesus story. So take that for what it is worth. I know that there is some serious connections and it certainly seems that it was written with that as the intent, but if you put on the blinders as Bertana said, it is a great story.

I was at the point in my life when I was choosing my path so to speak and I read the series cause they were in the church library. I felt kinda ripped off cause everybody around me loved the books and was also clueless of their signifigance. Plus once I did some further checking I realized that CS Lewis wrote many a christian book, very much into theology and it should have been obvious to me...but it wasn't until the end.

This reminds me of the Story Jonathon tells about the day his brother, Tim, came home from school crying that the other kids said that Santa wasn't real, that it was really his mom. As Mom and older brother (all of 10 or 12) were trying to calm him down, Jack said, "it's just like the Easter Bunny"
At which point Tim wailed, "The Easter Bunny TOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Oh wow. So I hope the movie is as good as the preview makes it seem. The Lion the Witch and he Wardrobe is actually my favorite of the books.
