BIRDS are not RAMPANT. Never, not EVER. The posture doesn't exist for birds.


RAMPANT also does not mean FIGHTING.


Rampant means: a four-legged vertebrate rearing up so that its weight is balanced solely on the near hind leg. That is ALL it means.

yeah but things like "at full respect" and "affronty" are kinda fun ones too.

Well, of course they're fun. They're also correct bird postures. My only hangup is that the specific word/definition RAMPANT cannot be applied to birds. At all. Ever.

There are positions that are visually similar, but they aren't rampant. It's one of my major heraldry semantics hangups.
